Get hired: What our new starters say

We know that applying for a new job can be daunting. Whether this application marks the first step in your career, or just the latest in a long line of roles, you’re likely to have your misgivings. Nerves are normal and the best thing you can do is be prepared, which is why we have created this guide to walk you through our hiring process: what you can expect, the various stages of our recruitment process, our top tips to combatting your interview jitters, and wand so on.

To kick off the Get Hired series we went and asked some of our new starters how they found the interview process and what top tips they would give to any potential candidates - where better to get your information than from the horse’s mouth?

Depending on the position you’re applying for, your journey through the interview stages will likely differ. For instance; candidates applying for product ownership or organisational leadership roles are likely to be asked to take part in ‘The presentation’ stage, while candidates applying for internships will to be asked to come in for a group behavioural interview. This guide is intended to cover all the possible ‘types’ of interview you may experience, but don’t worry, you are unlikely to be asked to take part in all of them!

During each stage of the process, you have the chance to assess whether you can see yourself being happy in the Ocado Technology working environment. Feel free to ask questions and really aim to get a feel for Ocado as a company. This process should be an opportunity to assess the roles suitability for you.

Most importantly, remember to stay calm, be yourself and show your enthusiasm for the role you are applying for. The interview process is as much a judge of whether you are a good fit for the team you are applying to join, as it is of your technical understanding and experience.

We want to see you succeed; we’re not here to trick you into making a mistake. This is why we have put together this handy guide to lead you step by step through each one of our hiring processes.
